ROTATIONAL MOULDING PROJECTS

Innovative rotational moulding projects, engineered to deliver exceptional quality, durability, and performance across a wide range of industries and applications.

Polymer Developments worked closely with DPT to engineer a new generation of triple-skinned, insulated rotomoulded water tanks specifically designed for potable water applications. From the outset, the collaboration focused on combining advanced polymer science with practical field performance requirements. Extensive design modelling and iterative prototyping were undertaken to optimise the three-layer construction — integrating structural outer and inner skins with a high-performance insulated core. Detailed research and development included material selection trials, wall thickness optimisation, and rigorous compliance testing to ensure the tanks met potable water safety standards while delivering superior durability and impact resistance.

A significant component of the development process involved calculating and validating thermal U-values to ensure the tanks achieved meaningful insulation performance in real-world environments. The engineering teams modelled heat transfer behaviour across the multi-layer structure, refining density and thickness parameters to minimise thermal bridging without compromising structural integrity. This analytical approach allowed Polymer Developments and DPT to achieve strong thermal performance suitable for temperature-sensitive water storage, while still maintaining efficient rotomoulding cycle times and material usage. The result was a cost-effective, commercially viable product range that balances high insulation performance, structural robustness, and affordability for large-scale potable water storage applications.

Working in partnership with Captrad, we manufactured a durable rotationally moulded solution for use within underground cable management systems. Traditionally, underground cable trays have been manufactured from concrete, resulting in heavy components that can be difficult to transport, handle, and install. By utilising advanced rotational moulding techniques, we helped deliver a lightweight yet robust plastic alternative that offers excellent strength, corrosion resistance, and long-term durability.

The new design simplifies installation, reduces manual handling requirements, and provides a low-maintenance solution capable of withstanding demanding underground environments, demonstrating how innovative polymer engineering can successfully replace traditional construction materials without compromising performance.

We partnered with customers in the construction sector to manufacture high-quality rotationally moulded architectural components, including decorative gallows brackets for porch installations and realistic corbel-style brick features. Designed to replicate the appearance of traditional building materials while offering the benefits of modern polymers, these products provide a lightweight, durable, and low-maintenance alternative to timber and masonry.

Resistant to weathering, moisture, and rot, they are easy to install and deliver a consistent, high-quality finish, making them ideal for both new-build developments and renovation projects.
